A First Team All-Big West honoree, making her the only libero in conference history to earn postseason accolades...League-leading 4.76 digs per game average also ranked 17th nationally...Double-digit digs in 25 of UCSB's 28 matches on the season, with 20 or more scoops on 11 occasions...Incredible 40 digs in only four games at Idaho on Nov. 6 were one-shy of the school record, and five-short of the all-time Big West best for a single match...One of the 18 contests in which she lead or tied for the team lead in digs...29 scoops in five-game loss at UC Irvine on Oct. 17, then tallied 28 digs as Santa Barbara won the rematch a month later...Combined 48 digs on two-game conference road trip to Pacific and Cal State Northridge...1,137 career digs are ninth-best in UCSB history, while 490 scoops in 2003 currently rank as the fourth-highest single-season total by a Gaucho.

Third-most prolific digging artist in the Big West at 3.87 per game...Amassed double-digit digs in each of the season's final 15 matches, and all but four times in 2002...Career-high-tying 21 scoops in three-game victory at Pacific on Nov. 21...18-dig performance in NCAA first round vs. Fresno State (Dec. 6) equaled total from Sept. 14 match vs. Duke...Dug 19 balls in three-game win at Cal Poly on Nov. 9.
2001
Walk-on made an immediate impact as a freshman, ranking fourth on the team with 2.42 digs per game...Career high of 21 scoops came in three-game sweep of No. 25 Utah State in the Thunderdome...Had a total of 11 double-digit dig on the season...Made start at outside hitter vs. UC Irvine on Oct. 19 and produced a season-best nine kills with only one error on 14 swings for a .643 hitting percentage...Also tallied 13 digs against the Anteaters, and 17 the following night vs. Long Beach State, ranked No. 1 at the time...In first collegiate match, recorded four kills and 11 digs in loss to defending NCAA champ Nebraska.

Kristin Nelson came to UCSB from Mira Costa High School where she played for Daelea Aldrich...Two-time First Team All-Bay League and Second Team All-CIF selection...Helped lead the Mustangs to a CIF Division I-AA championship in 2000 and third place finish in the state tournament...Nelson paced her squad in both kills and digs in their CIF Finals match win...Once named the Santa Barbara High School Tournament's Most Valuable Player...Member of the Asics Club Team coached by Nestor Rodriquez...Also played competitive beach volleyball while in high school...Recognized as a Scholar Athlete and named to the Honor Roll at Mira Costa.
